ILT Tecnologie is participating in the European HYDEA project (HYdrogen DEmonstrator for Aviation), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the future of aviation propulsion through the use of hydrogen. This strategic collaboration is part of the European Green Deal and the Clean Aviation Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, with the goal of developing low-emission technologies for aviation by 2035.
What is the HYDEA project?
HYDEA is a research and development project that started on January 1, 2023, and is expected to run until December 31, 2026. The total funding exceeds 110 million euros, with about 80 million euros provided by the European Union through the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking. Coordinated by GE Avio, the project involves a consortium of companies and research centers from across Europe, including ILT Tecnologie.
Objectives and challenges
Our expertise in the production of aerospace components allows us to actively support the project with our research and development team, contributing to the creation of innovative and sustainable technological solutions for hydrogen propulsion. The main goal of HYDEA is to demonstrate the feasibility of hydrogen propulsion in aircraft engines through a series of ground tests. The project faces challenges such as:
- Managing emissions and the environmental impact of hydrogen as a fuel.
- Developing innovative technologies for hydrogen storage and use.
- Optimizing propulsion systems to ensure efficiency and safety.
The role of ILT Tecnologie
A step towards zero-emission aviation
The HYDEA project represents a unique opportunity to revolutionize the aerospace sector and bring it closer to decarbonization goals. Thanks to the commitment of our research and development team and collaboration with leading research institutions, the future of sustainable flight is closer than ever.
